AOC C24G1 is a 24-inch curved monitor and got a 144Hz 1080p VA panel. It’s actually the cheapest high refresh rate monitor on Amazon market. Most of the time when customers see cheap price they instantly think it’s bad but it’s not like that necessarily. For the price you are paying for this monitor and the quality you are getting its actually worth a lot more and personally I’ve seen monitors twice as expensive with worst performance.

Design:

The design of this monitor is very gamer style and you can tell by just looking at it. It has sharp spread out legs that looks just like blades. The back of the monitor is made of plastic and a bit of red trims. It has very thin top and side bezels and also a very thin chin. This monitor is able to be mounted on the wall or to a monitor arm stand and anything like that. You also get a wire routing hole so you can organize your wires instead of having a mess around your desk. You can adjust the tilt height swivel of this monitor easily and there wont be an issue for you where you are sitting uncomfortable in front of the screen.

There are a 2 HDMI 1.4 ports, a DisplayPort 1.2 port, a VGA port incase you are still using it and also a headphone jack.

Display:

The screen is 23.6 inches, 1080p resolution with a pixel density of 93 pixel per inch. It has a 1500R curve, Freesync Premium, a peak brightness of 238 nits with the monitor contrast settings set on 50. And that is the best setting for this monitor  by the way. Because this monitor has a VA panel, it has a great contrast ratio of 3162 : 1 which means basically blacks will be blacks and not gray like some other monitors in this price range so you don’t need to worry about that.

Response Time:

This monitor has 6 levels of overdrive which are off, weak, medium, strong, boost and MBR which stands for Motion Blur Reduction. Because this monitor is super cheap personally I expected it to fail at the response time but actually when the overdrive is off, it does really well comparing to Asus VG259QM, The AOC doesn’t do quite as good but it isn’t bad at all comparing to its price and Asus is a lot more expensive but you get the point. This is all with overdrive off, now if you change the settings to weak medium and strong and above that it will just keep getting better and better than Asus and it beats the monitor by far like Asus is the cheaper monitor which it isn’t. As i said before this monitor has a LMB (boost) and it does look great also.

Color:

AOC C24G1 does really well with gamut coverage and color accuracy. It covers 95% of sRGB color space which is absolutely fine but then it doesn’t really get great because it covers only 69% of Adobe RGB and 72% of DCI-P3 color space. These doesn’t mean that the colors will be crazy in your gaming experience no don’t worry. If you are an average buyer who just buys the monitor and does not get a professionally calibrated which is literally most of you, you will be completely fine with this monitor.

Viewing Angles:

Viewing angles is also pretty decent keeping in mind that this monitor has VA panels. It’s no IPS panel but it does way better than any TN panel ever would. The picture quality is doing great if you look at it from sides and top which makes and doing better from bottom lowering the contrast effects. You will lose just a bit of brightness in about 45 degrees but personally I doubt you are going to look and play games from the sides or top of the monitor because you always want to sit in front of the monitor obviously so that should be a problem at all.

Backlight Bleed:

Next up is backlight bleed and believe it or not that isn’t bad at all on this monitor. The tests on the screen has shown that backlight bleed is there but its barely noticeable with human eyes and it’s barely visible because of the peak brightness but you wont notice any difference while watching something in darker rooms and situations.

On Screen Display:

You have 4 buttons that allow you to navigate through the OSD as well as being your shortcut buttons when you don’t have the OSD pulled up. One button is for quick source selection, one for you to access to your game mode settings or color profiles, one button for you to access your quick crosshair and the last one brings up the full OSD (On Screen Display). The OSD on this monitor is just so much about it and I will start with the “Luminance Menu” which allows you to adjust your display stuff for example your Contrast, Brightness, Eco Mode which are your presets for your contrast ad your brightness. You have gamma, DCR or dynamic contras ratio which locks you from being able to control anything. After that, it’s color setup which allows you to adjust your color temperature nothing more. Then you have picture boost which let’s you to brighten up your screen if you needed to. Lastly you have your gaming settings which allows you to change your game mode which is basically your color and settings presets. You can adjust the shadow, game color, Low Blue light, Overdrive, Freesync, FPS counter and MBR.

At the end of the day you get to pretty much play games on whatever settings you prefer and having that ability doesn’t come cheap and on every monitor and again AOC C24G1 is only about €240. For the price you are paying it’s definitely one of the most underrated monitors out there in the market.
