Design:

The design looks professional and the first thing you will notice when you see this monitor it’s the stand and how nice it is. It’s not a massive stand so it wont take a lot of space on you desk. The stand is pretty thick and you can only do tilt adjustment nothing more and it’s expected because of it’s price range. There are built-in speakers on this monitor which is mostly for windows notifications but personally I wouldn’t recommend relaying on those if you want a good quality sound because you can always plug your own speakers or headphones. This monitor is a three sided borderless design which just looks beautiful. For your cable management, there is space on the back of the stand and also a cover t cover all your cables so it won’t be an issue.

This is a 23.8 inch budget 1080p IPS monitor. In terms of specs, this monitor has 16 by 9 aspect ratio which runs at full HD 1080p and has a response time of 5ms. This monitor runs at 60Hz because of its IPS panel and being a budget monitor. In terms of i/o, you get a HDMI port, DisplayPort and VGA input plus a headphone jack.

There are buttons underneath the screen on the right side in terms of accessing the OSD (On Screen Display), it’s very easy to access and work with. You can change the contrast, the color temperature and each individual other colors. There is also AMA which I will get into while talking about gaming experience.

Viewing angles:

Now because this monitor is IPS panel it just means the viewing angles are pretty decent. The contrast ratio is very impressive  and the same goes for black levels. When you look at the price of this monitor you obviously will think that one of these options should be weak at least but let me tell you this monitor and it’s performance is actually pretty good.

Picture Quality and brightness:

The picture quality is accurate and you wont realize any blur in the picture and BENQ GW2480 is able to showcase colors pretty good and standard. Given the fact of it’s price I think it does a really good job.

Overall color reproduction is good and accurate however there is one thing which can be a downside of this monitor and that is it’s overall brightness, (250 CDM). Now if you are in a dark room or you are playing or working on your monitor at night it wont be an issue at all. But if your room or office has a lot of lights reflecting to you monitor and you probably need to adjust the brightness and that is when you realize you can’t because its already set on maximum and that might disappoint you a little bit and the monitor will be quite dull. Here in HeadQuarterTv we have a job to let you know about everything including downsides of a monitor as no monitor is perfect.

Gaming:

This monitor as you can tell by having a 60Hz panel that it’s not specifically aimed for gaming but it actually performed really well and that’s why its in one of our options in this website. It has a 5ms response time and as a As a casual gamer, 5ms response time is more than enough for your simple gameplay of shooter games like Call Of Duty or Counter-strike  or racing or open world or RPG, it doesn’t matter. You will get a response time faster than your reflexes so you don’t have to worry about response time. If you want to have the best gaming experience, you have to set the AMA to Premium which is the best option and it gives you less ghosting and a good smooth gameplay. If you don’t want to play competitive games you can also set the AMA to high which will be absolutely fine with a pretty low input lag. By the way this monito can also reach 75Hz and it does pass all the required tests and it works perfectly without any frame skipping.

Personal thoughts:

Overall I think it’s a good monitor and it really does everything a monitor should and it does it in fact quite good compared to it’s price tag again. IPS monitor, colors are accurate, good contrast ratio, good response time for gaming and other usage with a nice design.

If you budget is around this price range and you can’t really higher it up and you definitely need a monitor, this can easily be your future option for purchase. Again if you are aiming straight up for gaming and need more Hertz, the AOC C24G1 could be potentially a better option because that monitor was made for gaming but again this is also a pretty decent monitor.
